Estonian National Museum exhibition’s catalogue “Right body, wrong body?” mediates the latest research results of Estonian researchers, which shed new light on the cultural meanings of the body.

The exhibition and the collection of articles focus on aspects and problems related to the body that have been relevant in the past, but still cause discussions and controversies today: the body in different stages of life, food and health, beauty and decency, the national body, suffering and the technological body.

Cultural researchers mediate their views on the body from different disciplinary perspectives, drawing on diverse methods. The curators and authors of the articles focus on the dynamics of norms related to the body in time and space, and on the diverse, changing and contradictory experiences of the body, both at the level of the nation and the individual.

This catalogue is in English.
