In Siberia – Imprisoned and Exiled

Large-scale photo album about the terror caused to the Estonian people by the Soviet occupation authorities in 1940-1953. including arrests of political elites and military personnel, mass deportations, Russian prison camps, forced relocation in Siberia, and aftermath.

During the long preparatory work, out of thousands of images, the best photos and other illustrations are gathered on 496 pages, which covers the most important topics and allows the reader to get a closer look at the world of people taken to Siberia. The author of the texts of the chapters is Prof. Aigi Rahi-Tamm, Lauri Suurmaa, the historical editor of Grenader publishing house, helped to select the images and compile the signatures. The sources are numerous private collections and memory institutions.
