Little booklet about Estonian National Museums permanent exhibition “Echo of the Urals”.
During his trip to Siberia in 1845, the Finnish linguist Matthias Alexander Castren reflected on the distinctive character of Finno-Ugric peoples, which he attributed to the bewitching influence of the Ural Mountains: “The tribe that originated from the empty slopes of the Urals has always been withdrawn and different from the rest of humankind.” Tha aim of the exhibition “Echo of the Urals” is to highlight the hidden character of the Finno-Ugric peoples.
